Patagonia has long been a dream destination for travelers seeking dramatic landscapes, world-class hiking, and authentic connections to nature. On my own two-week Patagonia luxury travel adventure through southern Chile, I experienced everything from glacier-fed lakes to sweeping mountain vistas — all while staying in exceptional properties that made the journey as comfortable as it was awe-inspiring.
Santiago – The Gateway to Chile
Before heading south, I paused in Santiago to recover from the long flight and get a taste of Chile’s vibrant capital. With leafy plazas, mountain views, and a lively arts scene, the city was the perfect prelude to my bespoke Patagonia itinerary. After a couple of days exploring, I traded the city skyline for vineyard views.
Colchagua Valley – Chile’s Wine Country
Just a few hours from Santiago, the Colchagua Valley is a completely different world — one of rolling vineyards, boutique wineries, and a slower, more relaxed pace. Nestled between the Andes and the coastal range, it’s home to some of Chile’s most celebrated reds, particularly Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon.
During my visit, I toured family-owned estates where the winemakers themselves guided the tastings, pairing their wines with locally inspired menus. It was the perfect transition between city life and the remote beauty of Patagonia — a chance to pause, savor, and soak up the warmth of Chilean hospitality before the adventures ahead.
Puerto Natales & The Singular Patagonia
The short flight to Puerto Natales felt like entering another world. Here, fjords meet rolling steppe, and the light changes minute to minute. My base was The Singular Patagonia, often listed among the best luxury lodges in Patagonia. This restored early 20th-century industrial building has been transformed into a sleek, glass-wrapped hotel with panoramic views of the Última Esperanza Sound.
Daily guided excursions — from boat rides to remote glaciers to gentle hikes along the water — were led by expert local guides. After each day of exploration, I returned to spa treatments, exceptional dining, and the quiet hum of the surrounding wilderness.

Torres del Paine National Park
No Patagonia luxury itinerary is complete without time inside Torres del Paine National Park. From Puerto Natales, the journey into the park is a gradual reveal — the jagged Paine Massif appears suddenly, framed by turquoise lakes and golden grasslands.
Days were filled with hiking iconic trails, photographing wildlife like guanacos and condors, and simply soaking in the region’s vastness. The weather here is famously unpredictable — sun, wind, and rain can all happen within the hour — but the ever-changing light makes for unforgettable photography and a true sense of adventure.

Other Luxury Lodges in Patagonia
While my stay at The Singular was exceptional, I also recommend these best hotels in Torres del Paine to clients:
Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa – Architecturally stunning, with floor-to-ceiling views of the Paine Massif.
Explora Patagonia – Inside the park with direct trail access and an all-inclusive adventure program.
Awasi Patagonia – Private villas with personal guides for fully tailored exploration.
